چکیده

We present a new catalog of 11,209 O-rich AGB stars and 7172 C-rich in our Galaxy identifying more the bulge component considering visual carbon stars. For each object, we cross-identify IRAS, AKARI, MSX, WISE, 2MASS, AAVSO counterparts. two parts: one is based on IRAS PSC for brighter or isolated objects; other ALLWISE source less bright objects crowded regions. various infrared two-color diagrams (2CDs) sample find that theoretical dust shell models can roughly explain observations IR 2CDs. investigate properties SiO OH maser emission sources catalog. Mira variables stars, colors get redder longer pulsation periods. also study variability using WISE photometric data last 12 yr: multiepoch Near-Earth Object Reactivation (NEOWISE-R) 2021 release. generate light curves at W1 W2 bands compute Lomb-Scargle periodograms all From curves, have found useful variation parameters 3710 catalog, which periods were either known unknown previous works.

Asymptotic Giant Branch Stars in the Phoenix Dwarf Galaxy

JHKs near-infrared photometry of stars in the Phoenix dwarf galaxy is presented and discussed. Combining these data with the optical photometry of Massey et al. allows a rather clean separation of field stars from Phoenix members. The discovery of a Mira variable (P = 425 days), which is almost certainly a carbon star, leads to an estimate of the distance modulus of 23.10 ± 0.18 that is consist...

Nucleosynthesis in asymptotic giant branch stars

The nucleosynthesis in asymptotic giant branch stars (briefly: AGB)is a challenging and fascinating subject in the theory of stellar evolution and important for observations as well. This is because about of half the heavy elements beyond iron are synthesized during thermal pulsation phases of these stars. Furthermore, the understanding of the production of the heavy elements and some light ele...

Backflow in Post-asymptotic Giant Branch Stars

We derive the conditions for a backflow toward the central star(s) of circumstellar material to occur during the post-asymptotic giant branch (AGB) phase. The backflowing material may be accreted by the post-AGB star and/or its companion, if such exists. Such a backflow may play a significant role in shaping the descendant planetary nebula, by, among other things, slowing down the post-AGB evol...

Sodium production in asymptotic giant branch stars

A new scenario is presented for the production of 23Na in asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars. The scenario takes advantage of the periodic third dredge-up episodes characterizing those stars, which mix primary 12C from their intershell layers to their surface. Two successive interpulse/pulse/dredgeup sequences are then required to produce 23Na. During the first sequence carbon and oxygen are c...

Magnetic Flares on Asymptotic Giant Branch Stars

We investigate the consequences of magnetic flares on the surface of asymptotic giant branch (AGB) and similar stars. In contrast to the solar wind, in the winds of AGB stars the gas cooling time is much shorter than the outflow time. As a result, we predict that energetic flaring should enhance, rather than inhibit, dust formation around AGB stars. Analysis of an archival ROSAT X-ray spectrum ...
